"This One's On Us." Tim Hortons Spreads Holiday Cheer with Random Cups of Kindness

Random Guests at Tims Hortons Cafe & Bake Shop Restaurants across the U.S. to be Surprised with Free Orders from December 18 to December 22

DUBLIN, Ohio (December 18, 2012)-The best gifts are the ones you get when you least expect them. So, Tim Hortons Cafe & Bake Shop is making "the most wonderful time of the year" even merrier with Random Cups of Kindness. Beginning today through to Saturday, December 22, randomly selected guests at more than 300 participating U.S. restaurants will receive their order for free.
In addition to its Holiday Helpers Black Friday surprises, Tim Hortons Cafe & Bake Shop team members will help spread some cheer and make guests' holidays a little easier by paying for their orders at the drive-thru.

"At Tim Hortons we have the honor of serving millions of guests each and every day," said David Clanachan, COO, Tim Hortons. "With the hustle and bustle of the season upon us, we thought this would be the perfect time to show our appreciation and surprise many of our loyal guests with a free order."
Doing good at the drive-thru isn't a new concept to the restaurant chain. Restaurant owners, managers and team members regularly witness customers paying for a stranger's order-especially during the morning rush when drive-thru lines can get particularly long.

"Our guests regularly connect with us in a variety of different environments, whether online at home, in restaurants or on-the-go with smart phones," Clanachan added. "They place orders, share experiences and give us great feedback. We want to thank them all and share Random Cups of Kindness with as many as we can."
With that in mind, the fun of Random Cups of Kindness is also being extended online. Each day during the five-day campaign, U.S. Twitter followers (@TimHortonsUS) who mention Tim Hortons Cafe & Bake Shop in their tweets will be randomly selected and surprised with a TimCard.
The Random Cups of Kindness program is also being carried out across more than 2,900 participating Canadian restaurants.

Earlier this season, the Tim Hortons Cafe & Bake Shop Holiday Helpers partnered with Master Card® to surprise lucky shoppers by taking care of their gift budgets. On Thanksgiving night, across most of the bakery cafe chain's U.S. markets, restaurant owners randomly gave a person waiting in line for Black Friday deals $750 in Master Card® gift cards.

Since 2011, Tim Hortons Cafe & Bake Shop also randomly picks up its guests' tabs in celebration of National Random Acts of Kindness Week in February.
