Approval Process

Our application process is very straightforward, starting with an online application.

Financial Resources
  • Minimum of US $500,000 Liquid Assets
  • Minimum $1,500,000 Net Worth
  • Experience running a business or managing a group of people
  • Able to recruit, train, and manage staff
  • Willing to commit full time to running a Tim Hortons restaurant, or have a partner do so
  • Ability and desire to open & operate multiple restaurants

Step 1: Apply Online

The first step in your journey towards becoming a Tim Hortons franchisee is the online application. This detailed profile form will allow us to get to know you better before our first call. Please make sure you have reviewed and met all the requirements before submitting your application.

Step 2: Discovery Call

This phone call is our first contact point. It allows us to discuss the market you are applying for and your goals as a Tim Hortons franchisee. We will ask a few basic questions to gain a better understanding of why you want to join the Tims™ franchise. It is also a great opportunity for you to discuss any questions or concerns that you may have with us.

Step 3: Background & Credit Check

A background and credit check will be required before we move ahead with your application.

Step 4: In-Person Interview

This step is to make sure you have all the information you need before we move forward. You will meet with our Operations Director to gain a better understanding of how a Tim Hortons operates.

Step 5: Final Approval

For the last step of your application, your business case will be presented to the President of Tim Hortons USA, who will give the final approval of your candidacy.
