Over $1 million (CDN) raised for UNICEF to help children affected by the tsunami - Coin box collection campaign results overwhelming!

March 7, 2005 (Oakville, ON) - In just over three weeks, Tim Hortons customers raised over $1 million ($CDN) - $1,075,557.51 to be exact - for UNICEF to help children affected by the tsunami. From January 7th to 31st, coin boxes in over 2,600 participating Tim Hortons stores and drive thrus across Canada and the U.S., collected funds for UNICEF's tsunami relief efforts. This generous customer donation is in addition to the $500,000 corporate donation made earlier in the month to UNICEF on behalf of Tim Hortons store owners, their staff and all corporate offices.

"We are just overwhelmed by the results of the coin box fundraiser, and so pleased to be able to forward this money on our customers' behalf to UNICEF to help children who are still desperately in need in South Asia," said Paul House, President & COO, Tim Hortons. "Tim Hortons customers and staff really are an incredible group to give so generously!"

UNICEF has confirmed that all funds raised through the coin box collection campaign will be going directly to tsunami relief efforts.

"Tim Hortons is a company known for its commitment to children and communities," says David Agnew, president and CEO, UNICEF Canada. "When the Tsunami disaster struck and hundreds of thousands of children halfway around the world needed unprecedented relief, Tim Hortons rallied its employees and customers in communities across Canada to help. The extraordinary response will make an enormous difference as UNICEF works to help children recover from this disaster and rebuild their lives."
