Tim Hortons restaurants now accept Visa payWave

Contactless technology provides guests with faster, even more convenient payment options

OAKVILLE, ON. (November 19, 2012) - Tim Hortons guests are now able to pay for their favourite coffee using Visa's payWave contactless card technology.  More than 3,000 Tim Hortons restaurants across Canada will be equipped with new payment terminals by the end of the year, and able to accept Visa payWave.

Tim Hortons guests can simply wave their Visa payWave card in front of a merchant terminal that displays the universal contactless symbol and in a matter of seconds, their favourite menu items will be paid for. The technology will allow Tim Hortons guests to get in and out of the restaurant or drive-thru as quickly as possible without having to enter a PIN or dig for change.

"Tim Hortons is excited to bring Visa payWave to our guests, who will no doubt appreciate the ability to make purchases quickly and securely through contactless payments in our restaurants," said David Clanachan, Chief Operating Officer, Tim Hortons.  "We are committed to providing our guests with a wide variety of menu options and with the addition of Visa payWave, we can provide convenience too."

Tim Hortons partnered with Visa Canada earlier this year to allow guests to use their Visa card at Tim Hortons restaurants across Canada.
