OAKVILLE, ON - July 11, 2013 - Tim Hortons and its restaurant owners announced today it is donating $100,000 to the Canadian Red Cross to help relief efforts following the train explosion in Lac-Mégantic.
"We are mourning the loss of life and devastation from this terrible tragedy," says Michael Nadeau, Vice President, Quebec and Atlantic Operations. "The damage caused by the fires has left the entire community struggling to recover, and we hope this donation will help the Canadian Red Cross provide the assistance that is desperately needed."
Tim Hortons restaurant owners in the community will continue to support efforts on the ground by providing food, coffee and water to residents.
"We are very fortunate to have exceptionally generous guests, staff and restaurant owners who are standing strong with the community of Lac-Mégantic," says Nadeau.
