Collectively close to $250,000 going to Alberta flood relief from donut sales, text and corporate donations
OAKVILLE, ON - July 3, 2013 - In a few short days, Tim Hortons guests across Alberta have shown their amazing generosity and unwavering commitment to those affected by the Southern Alberta floods, by helping raise nearly $140,000 through Alberta Rose donut sales alone.
Available at participating Tim Hortons restaurants in Alberta, the Alberta Rose donut was created as part of Tim Hortons multi-level support program to aid flood-damaged Southern Alberta communities with 100 per cent of the sales from the $1 baked good going directly to Red Cross flood relief efforts.
"We cannot thank our guests and team members enough for coming together to show their support for those affected by the floods in Alberta. We're proud of the role our Alberta Rose donuts have played in directly supporting the flood relief effort," explains Al Meyers, franchisee, Tim Hortons, on behalf of all Alberta Tim Hortons restaurant owners. "In just a matter of days we have sold close to 140,000 Alberta Rose Donuts, raising nearly $140,000 so far." The iconic donuts will continue to be available at Alberta Tim Hortons restaurants until this Friday, July 5th.
"Today as we have re-opened our High River Tim Hortons location, the last of our flood affected restaurants, we continue to be committed to working side by side with our fellow Albertans to recover, restore and rebuild this great province," says Doug Anthony, Vice President, Western Canada.
As part of its commitment to supporting communities across Southern Alberta, Tim Hortons has also donated $100,000 to the Canadian Red Cross Alberta Floods Fund, and is continuing to provide on-the-ground support to volunteer efforts in flood affected communities. Canadians can also help by texting "FLOOD" to 45678 to donate $5, with all proceeds going to the Canadian Red Cross Alberta Floods Fund.
